28 May 2018 – Bolulla Castle

Ten of us for the last walk before the summer break
They set off at such a pace that I had to ask them to slow down a little
The slower pace made conversation easier
Lovely sunny morning for one of our favourite walks
As always we stopped to look at the “motorcycle” arch, though not everyone could spot the actual motorcycle
Most of the climbing is done during the first part of this walk
Combined with the heat this slowed the pace considerably
So everyone was glad to reach the shaded area for our banana stop
Except John who looked like he would rather have carried on
The next part is the long, gradual descent to the castle
With this view which explains why this is one of our favourite walks
I could not find any shade for our picnic lunch
But I did manage one of the best views of Bolulla castle and the coast beyond
We had earmarked an alternative lunch stop, but our slower pace would have taken too long to reach it
However we did have a water stop there
Which allowed us to study the impressive view
The return trip is much easier and less challenging
And there was no need to slow the pace on the last, uphill, kilometer to the cars
Most of all we shall miss the easy comradeship of the after walk drink
