What
a relief to wake to sun and blue skies, after our wet experience on Monday
Only
eleven of us today, perhaps some had been put off by my warning that this was
one of our more challenging walks
It
was the first time that most of them had done this walk, and all were impressed
with the winding walk down into the valley
We
had our banana break as we started to climb up out of the valley
According to Nick, our stats man, there is a total of 537 metres of
ascent on this walk (though todays reading was 600 metres)
Whichever
reading is correct, most of it is in this part of the walk
However
the views from the top, including this one of the Baranco Inferno, make the
climb well worth while
We
then walked down to the abandoned village
Where
we had our second break
Then
the long gradual climb to the Venta del Collao restaurant
This
is my favourite part of the walk, because the track is quite good and you can
enjoy the spectacular views
There
is also lots of opportunity to chat
We
spotted these white goats looking down at us from the rocks high above the path
We
had our picnic at a suitable spot with flat rocks to sit on and good views
After
the restaurant we joined the familiar route back from our Caballo Verde walk
We
now had excellent views down to Benimaurell and the coast beyond
Everyone
was still going strong as we neared the village, thanks to the good pace set by
David who led this walk
And
it was very pleasant to sit outside bar Oasis with a cold drink
Everyone
was full of praise for the walk and one commented that it was the best walk they had done with the group
Walk Stats
