25 January 2018 – Pinos Fossil Walk

We met in Jalon to car share as the parking is limited at the start of the walk
Sixteen of us today, including Kevin and Sue joining us for the first time this year
Thick low lying cloud in the valley and along the coast, but fortunately not in the mountains
It was clear when we left Parcent, but very thick when we arrived in Jalon
Even denser as we drove towards the coast
But fortunately cleared completely as we neared Pinos
Although a few walkers change each week we seem to have settled on a comfortable 15-18 on each walk
The group seems to be self-regulating without having to turn anyone away
David loaned me his satnav to see if it worked any better than mine

It did and was even more accurate than Nick’s

However it did not stop me taking a wrong path
More my fault than the satnav, I was talking too much

It happened just after we left the donkeys
I was not paying any attention to the satnav
Only realised we had gone wrong when we reached the end of the track

Fortunately it was not far back to where I had gone wrong
Most of the group were kind and overlooked my mistake
It is a joy walking with this group who have all become good friends over the past year or so
Walk Stats
Distance 8.5 km
Time 4 hours 15 minutes
Total Ascent 330 metres
