15 March 2018 – Pedreguer Castel d’Aixa

Only seven of us for today’s walk
It was always going to be a small group, for a variety of other commitments

However it got even smaller when two cancelled on the morning of the walk
Despite the forecast of rain we arranged to go to the start and decide then whether to cancel or not
It was overcast but dry, so we agreed to start the walk
Before we reached the banana stop it started to drizzle, enough to put on our waterproofs
By now we had done all of the climbing and the rain had stopped, so we all agreed to carry on towards the castle
This was a good decision because the sky cleared and the rain disappeared
We had another decision at the base of the hill, whether to climb to the top or not

Once more everyone agreed to carry on
And we were rewarded with the views for which this walk is well known
Anneke and Toon return to Amsterdam until November and will be much missed
It was not as dismal having our lunch as the photo suggests, in fact it was quite pleasant once we got out of the wind
However we did have to wrap up to keep warm
We had a longer than usual lunch break, and it was 2pm before we started the return journey
By the time we reached Pedreguer it was a warm, sunny afternoon
This is a longer than usual walk, but everyone enjoyed it – despite, or perhaps because of,  the less than perfect weather
Walk Stats
Distance – 12 km
Time Taken – 6 hours
Total Ascent – 525 metres
Total Steps – 20,000
