19 March 2018 – Green Horse

Twelve of us on today’s walk, our best Monday turnout yet
It was good to welcome Tom, Sue and John for their first walk with the group
We were particularly pleased that all three were recommended by other members of the group
We were a little concerned that almost half of the group were on their first or second walk with the group
Even more so because the newcomers had existing friends within the group
We need not have worried because all mixed extremely well and the newcomers fitted in without any problem
By the end of the walk it was like we had all known each other for years
However it was a little confusing that there were three John’s and two Jan’s
Quite a few were doing this lovely walk for the first time
But by the end all seemed to have enjoyed it as much as we did
The forecast was for a sunny start and a possibility of rain mid afternoon
It lied about the sunny start!
It was in fact much colder than anticipated, particularly by John (number one) who was wearing his shorts as usual
However it did remain dry and the views were striking even without the sun
We were in the bar when the rain arrived as promised in the weather forecast
Walk Stats
Distance – 8 km
Time Taken – 5 hours
Total Ascent – 370 metres
Total Steps - 17500
