8 March 2018 – Jalon to Parcent

Only eight of us today, many put off by a forecast of rain all morning
We decided on a valley walk, rather than the planned one from Lleus to Pinos
I wanted to be close to a village during the morning, when there was 60% chance of rain
So once more we walked to the view point at Alcalali, where we could abandon the walk if necessary
It had rained during the night, but stopped before we started our walk.  And though cloudy it was clearing so we decided to carry on to Parcent.
We started the walk early because we had arranged to meet at 9.30 and then drive to Lleus
So we arrived in Parcent about 11.30am, too early for lunch
Anneke suggested a coffee in Parcent, which everyone agreed was a great idea
By the time we resumed the walk the sun had come out
John showed us an alternative route to the pipeline path to Jalon
There were still signs of the earlier rain, which convinced us that we had made the right decision to do a valley walk
John also suggested a great spot on the path for our lunch
Not only a sun trap, but plenty of seating and an excellent view of the valley below
Despite our earlier coffee stop we still spent a pleasant half hour eating our lunch in the sun
We opted for the direct route back to Jalon, rather than via the Stations of the Cross
The girls could not resist a closer look at this interesting finca
Everyone agreed that it was a great walk, all the more so as we had expected so little due to the weather forecast

Walk Stats
Distance – 16km
Time taken – 5 hours
Steps – 20,000 (according to Sabine’s new toy)
