19 April 2018 – Castells Serrella Castle

Fourteen of us for today’s walk
This included Michael and Helen, who are friends of John and Terri
Sue and Kevin also brought their son James, on their last walk before they all return to the UK.
It’s always nice to have guest walkers, and particularly if they enjoy it as much as they did today
Lovely walking weather today, warm but with a cool breeze
We needed the breeze as this walk involves a lot of climbing
However it is well worth it to see the view from the castle
This is followed by a steep downhill section…..
…..and then yet another climb
And finally our picnic spot overlooking Guadalest reservoir
We all managed to find suitable wind breaks to enjoy the sun and the view
Having climbed all the way from Castells we would have been content to spend much longer having lunch
But fortunately it is downhill all the way back to the village
There were too many of us for one photo
So David had to take two
Half of the group have now returned home for the summer, so this may well be the last large group until October.
Walk Stats
Distance – 12 Km
Time Taken – 5 hours
Total Ascent – 655 metres
