5 April 2018 – Fig Tree

Another sunny morning and a pleasant cool breeze
Only ten of us today
Fortunately “Sporty Helen” was able to join us
A good sized group, but a little less than expected
Nine were missing for various good reasons
But it does mean that we will have to consider opening membership again
In February we had 16-20 on each walk, which was a little too many
Consequently we decided to close membership and start the Monday Explorers
The numbers for Monday are increasing
But Thursday has been 7-10 for most of March
We would prefer each walk to be about 12-16
We are not really worried about numbers, and are sure they will increase
But clearly we do not need to refuse new members for either group at present
The important thing is that all ten of us had a great walk today
The long road climb at the start was a challenge
But the view from our banana stop made it worthwhile
We also enjoyed a sunny picnic with extensive views
Even the “sting in the tail” climb near the end was tackled without (much) complaint
Another successful walk enjoyed by one and all
Walk Stats
Distance – 13 Km
Time Taken – 5.15 hours
Total Ascent – 510 metres
Total Steps - 21000
