3 May 2018 – Bernia Circuit

13 of us today – but there was nothing unlucky about this walk
We had excellent weather so it was a good decision to cancel it last week
Colin’s wife Karina had a day off work and joined us today
It was also nice to have Alyke and Robert with us again after a break of a few weeks
The forat proved a challenge for the taller members of the group
But the view made it worthwhile for all of us
The group photograph does not do it justice
We were surprised that there were quite a few walkers on the mountain today
But we plodded on at our own pace
There was a pleasant breeze and we did not need shade for our picnic lunch
And the view was quite spectacular
The path is good enough to walk and enjoy the views
And it seemed no time at all before we reached the fort
We had a short stop there to explore the ruins
Then off again on the final section of the walk
This is by far one of the best walks
With views that could have come from a walking magazine

One final stop to enjoy the scenery
Then downhill to the cars
And a very welcome cold drink at Bar Refugio
Walk Stats

Time Taken – 5 hours
Total Ascent – 450 metres
