Eighteen of us for this very special walk
Despite a poor weather forecast we had ideal walking
weather
We also had lots of stops to enjoy the spectacular views
Fortunately the ground was dry as we went over the ridge
Not Jan’s favourite part of the walk, but she managed it
very well
There is no track over the ridge, but David knows it well
Kevin and Sue joined us for the first time since the
summer break, also their first time to do this walk
Steve and Lynn also joined us for their first
walk with the group
We were all pleased to see the coastal fort ahead
This is one of a string of look out towers/strong points
along this part of the coast
It also provides a great location with beautiful views
for our break
It always seems too soon when we set off again
We soon reach the first of two permanent chains to help
with particularly difficult parts of the coastal path
The second one looks even more impressive, but neither are as
difficult as they look
Then the long climb up to the mirador, fortunately
assisted by the hand rails
And reaching the mirador makes it all well worth while
A gentle walk down a good road takes us down to
Granadella beach
Where we shared our picnic lunch with two sea gulls
We had to scramble over a lot of trees which had been
blown down on the return journey
It’s a steep climb back to the cars, but with a gentle pace and sufficient stops, everyone managed
it ok
There are more photographs of the walk in the video slideshow.
